Dr. Baumgarten completed medical school and pediatric residency in Slovenia, where she also pursued subspecialty training in pediatric infectious diseases. This training led her to go on several medical missions to Africa—experiences that deeply shaped her commitment to global and community health and strengthened her belief in compassionate, equitable care for all children.

After moving to the United States, Dr. Baumgarten completed an additional pediatric residency at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. She also completed further pediatric behavioral health education through Duke University.

Dr. Baumgarten’s clinical interests include newborn care, child development, adolescent health, pediatric behavioral health, and global and community health.

As both a pediatrician and a parent of twin boys, Dr. Baumgarten understands the joys and challenges of raising children and values listening, clear communication, and a collaborative approach to care.
